the notes in my obsidian vault are organised by folders, links and tags. due to the limitations of notion, my notes that are hosted here in this digital garden are all stored in a single database, i call it the , where woyc stands for what’s on your couch. you can find out more about how i organise my entire life in notion here. as for now, these notes stored in the database are organised by mainly five tags, as well as an overall where they are tagged by topics!

🍃 :these are fleeting thoughts or shower thoughts that i capture on the go through my note making process within my second brain system. i use a ‘falling leaf’ emoji to represent these thoughts as within the context of a garden, these leafs that come and go mimics the kinds of thoughts that i have.

🌱: these are permanent notes, which are essentially fleeting notes that are fleshed out a little more. i use the ‘seedling’ emoji to represent how these notes have been processed a little and are starting to find their footing within the garden.

🍀: these are atomic notes, that are notes in my own words, that i have distilled from outside sources. the ideas within the notes are so atomic in nature that they often make sense even out of the context which they were taken from. i use the ‘four clover leaf’ emoji to represent hope, that these notes can be utilised in the future for connection with the rest of the garden.

🌲: these are evergreen notes which are basically evolved atomic notes that i have gone back and fleshed out, and connected with the rest of my garden. they are the most valuable notes in my system as they benefit from the lindy effect.

🍇: these are my source notes, where i store all the information that i have consumed online using a service like readwise that automatically helps to sync them to my .

🌴: these are literature notes that are notes taken from courses/outside sources, they primarily contain my words in reference to my source notes that are stored in my .

as you can see, there are also notes that do not have an emoji attached to them. i call them ghost notes, which are notes that are at the very front of the different stages of note processing
