understanding that growth within a person, a product, a community is never constant (and even consistent). it requires many trial and errors, failures and sometimes even luck (although i believe that luck is created according to his plans).

in addition, something that grows quickly especially on weak foundations will fall quickly as well. the saying you’re only as strong as your weakest link proves that it is better to have slow but consistent growth than growth based on hype, trends and algorithms.
