hi, i’m ryan. i’m 24 years old this year. not sharing my pronouns because why are pronouns a thing in 2024
i’m a thinker, very deep thinker at that. i’m also a problem solver.
i do love collecting information that i’ve come across, digital hoarder is a term we use to describe it in this personal knowledge management space
with that, i do love collecting problem-solving and “how it’s made” stories from different fields, or simply just things that inspires me as each new hammer teaches me to recognise and find wonder from new types of nail.
my current interest lies in tending to my digital garden as it a space where my shower thoughts are translated into usable insights, when connected properly at least.
why pursue this? as anne lamott describes in bird by bird, first drafts aren’t that good. useful ideas emerge through iteration and refinement. some environments are better at providing both motivation for rewrites and quality feedback for improvement. i am sad when i think about the potential lost when ideas that could have flourished flounder because they were born to environments unsuited to them, like a fish in the desert.
i’m currently a year 4 architecture student studying at the national university of singapore. funny enough, through it i have also realised that my passion innately lies somewhere else. not something completely different, still within the design and creative field, but definitely not architecture as the work life balance is so bad.
aside from academics, i’m also a student athlete that have been playing floorball and actively competing since i was 7 (2007-2024) and in recent times have represented my school, club, and nation at various competitions. at the moment of writing, it is the off season so i will be enjoying my break for the time being.
i am very into the idea of productivity and knowledge management, a constant lurker on twitter thraeds, subreddits and youtube channels regarding these topics. i actively try to contribute my thoughts and skill sets on these various platforms.
in my free time, i like to play brawl stars, fingerboard, read and watch self help books or videos, organise my notion and obsidian vault and procrastinate as well. i occasionally try my hand at no code, and even some basic coding as well. this site is basically an amalgamation of all of my interests
